What is Cartoon Caption Contest?
Cartoon Caption Contest is organised by The New Yorker. Each week, we provide a cartoon in need of a caption. Each new Contest begins seven (7) days before the date on the cover of the issue of The New Yorker (the “Cover Date”) and ends at 11:59 P.M. E.T. on the Sunday before the Cover Date. All entry materials become the property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Finalists for this week’s cartoon, by Kaamran Hafeez, will appear online July 4th and in the July 11 & 18, 2022, issue of The New Yorker.

How To Participate in the Cartoon Caption Contest?
To Participate in the Cartoon Caption Contest, the procedure are given below,
1. To enter online, fill in the information on the page entitled “Enter Contest” and include a caption of 250 characters or less for the featured cartoon (the “Submission”).
2. To enter using Instagram, comment on the cartoon posted on @newyorkermag, using the hashtag #MyNewYorkerCaption, for your caption to be considered as an official entry (a “Submission”) in the contest.
3. One entry per person, e-mail address, or Instagram account.
Eligibility Criteria
The Eligibility Criteria of Cartoon Caption Contest is given below,
** Anyone age thirteen or over can enter, except employees, agents, or representatives of Sponsor or any other party associated with the development or administration of the Contest, or any member of their immediate family.
** One entry per person, e-mail address, or Instagram account.
Winner Selection
**Three finalists will be selected from each Cartoon Caption Contest by a member or members of the editorial staff of The New Yorker (the “Judge(s)”).
**All three finalists’ captions will be published on the Cartoon Caption Contest page, along with each finalist’s name and city and state, two issues after submissions are received.
**In the event two or more valid entries contain the identical caption (including punctuation) and are selected as a finalist, the entry that was first received by the Sponsor will be deemed as the finalist, and the other entries will not be included as a finalist.
**All decisions of the Judge(s) in all matters relating to the Contest are final and binding.
**The winner of each Contest will be the person whose caption received the greatest number of valid votes (“Votes”) from the public and who satisfies all of the rules (“Qualified Winner”).
**Anyone thirteen or over can vote, except employees, agents, or representatives of Sponsor or any member of their immediate family.
**Void where prohibited.
**One Vote per person and one Vote per e-mail address.
Winner Announcement
The Judge(s) will tabulate the Votes and announce the winner on the Cartoon Caption Contest page.
Awards of Cartoon Caption Contest
The Awards of Cartoon Caption Contest are given below,
** The Qualified Winner of each Cartoon Caption Contest will have his or her caption and name printed in the magazine as the winning caption.
** No prize will be awarded in connection with the Contest and publication of the winning caption does not have a retail value.
** If the Qualified Winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within three (3) days, an alternate winner may be selected.
