Beta Release of an Online Passport Renewal System :
** Eligible U.S. citizens can now renew their passports online. We’re conducting a beta release of an updated online passport renewal system.
** You may not be able to start your application on the day of your choice. ** The system will open for a limited midday eastern time window each day, and will close once we reach our limit for the day.
** If you are unable to start your application, try again on another day. If you do not want to wait or do not qualify to renew online, you may also renew by mail now.
** During the next several months, we plan to continue to limit the number of applications accepted each day so we can monitor the system’s performance in real time. This beta release during which we are limiting the daily applications is an important and standard part of the software development process.
** We appreciate your patience while we test our system and prepare for a full launch of the updated online passport renewal system.

How To Report Passport Lost or Stolen?
** Report your valid U.S. passport lost or stolen immediately. Protect yourself from identity theft.
** Use one of three ways to report it lost or stolen
Online
By mail, or
In person when you apply for a new passport.
** Do not report a passport lost or stolen if it has expired.
** When you report your valid passport lost or stolen, we immediately cancel it. You cannot use it for international travel even if you find it later.
** Want to immediately replace your valid lost or stolen passport? Reporting it lost or stolen does not replace it. You must apply in person and submit both Form DS-64 and Form DS-11 if you want a replacement passport.
How To Replace a Limited Validity Passport?
** A limited-validity passport is a passport we issued for less than the full validity period. The full validity period is 10 years for customers over age 16 and five years for children under 16.
** The process to apply for a full-validity passport depends on the reason we issued a limited-validity passport.
** Refer to the letter we included with your limited-validity passport for more information.
** An emergency passport is valid for one year or less, and is for U.S. citizens who must return to the United States as soon as possible from a foreign country.
** We issue emergency passports in limited circumstances only. Examples include replacing a lost or stolen passport or life-or-death situations.
** Some countries may not accept your emergency passport. Check the entry and exit requirements of your destination before you travel.
** Expand the boxes on this page to learn the common reasons why we limit a passport, and how to replace it with a full-validity passport.
