Job Summary:
This position manages the day-to-day operation and maintenance of solar and wind facilities for Southern Power Company. The preferred work location for this position is The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL. There may also be limited flexibility to report to one of several Southern Power solar or wind facilities located in California, Georgia, Maine, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas or North Carolina.

Primary responsibilities include:
**Managing contracts with O&M providers for the SPC solar and wind facilities
**Supporting SPC performed O&M strategy for current and future solar and wind facilities
**Proactively managing relationships, equipment issues, and plant outages remotely to understand issues and drive to satisfactory resolution
**Collaboration with performance engineering to utilize operational data to identify and pursue efficiency improvements
**Participating in periodic face to face meetings and status calls with contractor asset management and operation teams
**Monitoring performance of solar and wind facilities
**Coordinating site visits to the solar and wind facilities
**Developing status reports and presentations for management updates
**Processing monthly and quarterly invoices for SPC provided expenses
**Performing O&M contract development of solar and wind facilities targeted for acquisition or development by SPC
**Working with other SPC departments including but not limited to, Origination & Acquisitions, Accounting, Project Siting, Development and EPC, Commercial Optimization and Trading, Project Analysis and Market Assessment, and Compliance and External Affairs concerning solar and wind operations
**Participating in project teams to assess the operational and financial risks associated with solar and wind projects
**Understanding plant operation details and handling communication of updates and resolutions to management, internal customers and peer groups
This preferred work location for this is The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL. There may be flexibility to report to one of several SPC solar and wind facilities located in various parts of the United States including, but not limited to, California, Georgia, Maine, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and North Carolina.
Job Requirements:
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.
Relevant job experience in the following areas:
**Power plant operations and maintenance
**Generation Development
**Generation Planning or System Planning
**Asset Management
**Business Development
General understanding and/or working knowledge in these areas:
**Photovoltaic, wind or fossil fuel power generation
**Power plant design and construction
**Utility system planning
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
**Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external clients
**Autonomous, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
**Ability to interpret operational data preferred – SQL, PI or OIS experience a plus
**Power BI experience preferred
**Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
**Excellent project management skills that lead to desired results
**Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving skills required
**Strong oral and written communications skills required
**Strong understanding of expense and capital budgeting
**Demonstrates assertiveness and the ability to influence others tactfully
**Innovative thinking, looking for new ways to do things to make them better
